Objective: To discuss the clinical effect of Chinese herbal medicine Yinlian mouthwash in the treatment of elderly patients with periodontitis. Methods: A total of 100 cases of patients with acute periodontitis hospitalized from November 2012 to November 2014, according to the random number table method, were divided into observation group and control group, 50 cases of each group. Patients of two groups were given conventional treatment, on this basis, the control group was treated with saline gargle; the observation group was treated with Chinese medicine Yinlian gargle. The clinical curative effect, pain after treatment and the clinical indexes of periodontal before and after treatment of the two groups were compared. Results: 1) The total effective rate of the observation group was 94%, significantly higher than 72% of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); the plaque index (PLI), gingival bleeding index (BI), probing depth (PD), attachment loss (AL), such as periodontal clinical index level of patients of two groups before treatment were compared, the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05); 2) the PLI and BI of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); 3) the incidence of pain after 4 weeks of observation group was 20%, which was significantly lower than 4% of the control group, difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Using traditional Chinese medicine Yinlian mouthwash in treatment of elderly patients with periodontitis, the clinical efficacy is exact, and it can effectively relieve the pain and periodontal bleeding, which is worth further promotion.
