Abstract
Neonatal suppurative parotitis (NSP) is a rare infectious disease. The incidence rate is 0.38‰–1.4‰. The clinical manifestation of NSP is swelling, pain, erythema of the parotid gland, and purulent exudate may be also found in the Stensen duct. The main pathogen of NSP is Staphylococcus aureus. We reported a 14-day-old full-term boy diagnosed with NSP, who had ipsilateral conjunctivitis with a history of parotid swelling, pain and erythema. Ultrasound examination shown that the parotid gland was enlarged without abscess. The growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis was found in the secretion of parotid gland and ipsilateral eye simultaneously, and intravenous antibiotics treatment was effective.
