Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the signi cance of LDL-c/HDL-c (L/H) in formation of carotid artery plaque in female patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: A total of 210 female patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were divided into two groups: the experimental group consists of 100 cases who had carotid artery plaque and the control group included 110 cases without carotid artery plaque according to results of color Doppler ultrasound in carotid artery. e general clinical data and risk factors of carotid artery plaque were collected and compared; e clinic advantages of LDL-c/HDL-c were evaluated by single factor analysis, logistic regression analysis, receiving the ROC curves, and so on. Results: ere were statistical di erences between the two groups in age, the course of disease, the systolic pressure, HbA1c, UA, LDL-c, HDL-c and L/H (P<0.05). ere was no signi cant di erence in their BMI, TC, TG and diastolic blood pressure (P>0.05). With the method of rejecting confounding factors and with the help of logistic regression analysis, OR values of ages, HbA1c, UA and LDL-c/HDL-c were 1.128, 1.469, 1.005 and 1.952 respectively, which indicated they were risk factors in developing carotid artery plaque. e area under the ROC curve of LDL-c/HDL-c was 0.689 and that of LDL-c was 0.571, showing that LDL-c/HDL-cwas be er than LDL-c as an evaluation parameter. Conclusion: More comprehensiveness, accuracy and value can
be achieved when applying L/H to evaluating diabetic angiopathy.
