Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Yupingfeng granules combined with conventional symptomatic treatment for recurrent respiratory tract infection (RRTI). Methods: CNKI, VIP, WANFANG DATA, Sinomed, PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library was searched for the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that investigated the clinical and immune effect of Yupingfeng granules in RRTI from inception to May 2016. The literature was screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria by 2 researchers. Extracted data and evaluated the methodological quality of included studies. After the data were extracted, and the methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated, the meta-analysis was performed by the software RevMan 5.3. Results: A total of 18 studies involving 1 845 patients were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that compared with the control group (conventional symptomatic treatment), the experimental group (conventional symptomatic treatment + Yupingfeng granules) was superior in improving total effective rate, antibody level and T cell level. Conclusion: Yupingfeng granules combined with conventional symptomatic treatment improves overall clinical efficacy in the treatment of RRTI. However, due to the low quality of the literatures, theoretical support of large sample double blind randomized trials is still needed.
