摘要

阿尔茨海默病(Alzheimer’s disease,AD)是一种神经退行性疾病,为老年痴呆症的主要形式之一。姜黄素是从植物姜黄根茎中提取的一种黄色色素,属多酚类化合物,因其毒副作用小和广泛的生物学活性等优势而受到广泛关注,近年来研究证实姜黄素能有效改善AD的病理进程和发展。作为一种抗氧化剂,姜黄素通过调节体内氧化-还原平衡,减少氧化应激造成的损伤,从而发挥对AD患者的神经保护作用。此外,它还可以通过调节NF-κB、淀粉样前体蛋白、β淀粉样前体蛋白裂解酶和核因子E2相关因子2等信号蛋白发挥作用。

Research progress in neuroprotection of curcumin on Alzheimer’s disease

Abstract

Alzheimer’s disease (AD), a neurodegenerative disease, is one of the main reasons leading to dementia. Curcumin, a polyphone compound, is an active yellow polyphenol pigment of turmeric. Curcumin has been attracted highly attention due to its outstanding safety profile and a number of pleiotropic actions with potential for neuroprotective effects. In recent years, it has been suggested that curcumin displays protective effect against the development of AD in vivo as well as in vitro. As an antioxidative agent, curcumin exerts the neuroprotective effect on AD through decrease in formation of reactive oxidative species and maintaining the balance of redox. In addition, it also exerts regulatory effects on signal molecules, such as NF-κB, β-amyloid precursor protein, β-site APP cleavage enzyme 1, and nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2.
